HCC Board Chair Avent awarded The Order of the Long Leaf Pine
 
WELDON, N.C. – Halifax Community College (HCC) Board of Trustees Chairman Frank V. Avent III has been awarded The Order of the Long Leaf Pine by North Carolina Governor Bev Perdue. It is among the most prestigious awards presented by the governor. The award was presented on Dec. 13 at HCC.

The honor, created in the mid 1960s, is given to individuals with a proven record of extraordinary service to the state. Contributions to their communities, extra effort in their careers, and many years of service to their organizations are used as guidelines by which recipients are selected for this award.
