Overview of Program

Curriculum in the Mobile Equipment Maintenance and Repair pathway prepare individuals for employment as entry level transportation service technicians. The program provides an introduction to transportation industry careers and increases student awareness of the diverse technologies associated with this dynamic and challenging field. Course work may include transportation systems theory, braking systems, climate control, design parameters, drivetrains, electrical/electronic systems, engine repair, engine performance, environmental regulations, materials, product finish, safety, steering/suspension, transmission/transaxles, and sustainable transportation, depending on the program major area chosen.

Graduates of this pathway should be prepared to take professional licensure exams, which correspond to certain programs of study, and to enter careers as entry-level technicians in the transportation industry.

Course requirements

You need access to a computer, desktop or laptop or any computing device that meets the system requirements and a reliable high speed internet.Once admitted, talk to your advisor for specific guidance. Students will also need a textbook which covers all automotive classes and an access code to Electude, an online training website.

Program Admission requirements

The College welcomes any high school graduate or non-graduate who is 18 years of age or older and who can benefit from the educational instruction programs offered. Academic Pathways are available to allow any tradition, non-traditional, or current high school students the opportunity for enrollment in the College.

Through Career & College Promise (CCP), qualified high-school-age students in North Carolina have the opportunity to pursue these options, tuition free, while they are in high school, allowing them to get a jumpstart on their workplace and college preparation.

This is a 1 year training program that will give graduates the highest experience level in the automotive program. Courses include engine repair, transmissions, brakes, steering and suspension, electrical, computer diagnostics, and climate control.

Is a 4 month training course that includes engine repair, transmissions, and basic electrical courses.

Is an 8 month training course that includes brakes. steering and suspension, electrical, and engine performance 1 courses.

 Is training that includes electrical, and computer diagnostics courses.

This training is offered to high school students and includes engine repair, brakes, basic electrical, and engine performance 1 courses.
