HCC Foundation Inc. Annual Golf Tournament raises nearly $9,000 for students
 
WELDON, N.C. – On Sept. 13, the Halifax Community College (HCC) Foundation Inc. hosted its second annual golf event, the Halifax Community College Foundation Inc. Annual Golf Tournament at Chockoyotte Country Club in Weldon. The total amount raised was $8,955, which will provide assistance for student scholarships, activities and expenses.

Nineteen teams participated in the tournament. First-place honors went to the Chris Canady-State Farm Team of Chris Canady, Grant Everette, Rob Gowen and Joey Griffin. A second-place finish was garnered by the Citizens Community Bank Team of Steven Cobb, Johnny Evans, Jim Frazier and Ben Montgomery. Third-place honors went to Harvey Taylor’s Team consisting of James Allen, Selby Merritt, Harvey Taylor and Bruce Warrick. The longest-drive-contest winner was Charles McElheney and the closest-to-the-pin contest winner was Jeff Smith.
