NAEYC Accreditation celebrated at HCC Child Care Center
WELDON, N.C. – The Halifax Community College (HCC) Child Care Center and the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) presented an accreditation ceremony and open house on July 26 at the child care center.

Program participants included:
  • Congressman G.K. Butterfield Representative Dollie Burwell
  • Halifax Community College Board of Trustees Chairman Frank V. Avent III
  • Halifax Community College Child Care Center Children
  • Halifax Community College Child Care Center Parents—Farrow Ford, Corey Davis and Jenger Adams
  • Halifax Community College President/CEO Dr. Ervin V. Griffin Sr.
  • North Carolina Association for the Education of Young Children Executive Director Lorie Barnes
  • Weldon Mayor Julia Meacham
  • WRAL-TV 5 News Anchor/Reporter Kelcey Carlson
HCC Child Care Center staff members were recognized during the ceremony. They include:

The HCC Child Care Center was the first five-star center in Halifax County and now enjoys the status of being the first and only NAEYC accredited child care center in Halifax County and the surrounding areas. There are approximately 8,000 child care centers and homes in North Carolina. Of those, only 117 have achieved NAEYC accreditation.
