HCC’s Mayle completes mental health training
WELDON, N.C. – Halifax Community College Director of Counseling Services Teresa Mayle completed Mental Health First Aid Training on Dec. 8 through the Southern Regional Area Health Education Center in Fayetteville, N.C.

Mental Health First Aid is a 12-hour training course designed to give people important skills to help someone who is developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis. Evidence suggests that the training makes people feel more comfortable managing a crisis situation and builds mental health literacy, helping the public identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illness. Mayle plans to share the training with the HCC community in the future.
