WELDON, N.C. – On Sept. 22, students from Halifax Community College’s (HCC) history classes taught by instructor Shaun Stokes and design classes taught by instructor Alice Vaughan explored the Jamestown Settlement in Virginia where the first permanent English colonists and the Powhatan Indians made their home.
Students enjoyed riding the ferry, learning how the settlers made corn baskets, exploring the ships and visiting the museum. Concluding the trip was a lunch at the legendary Virginia Diner in Wakefield, Va.
