HCC Trustee Solomon recognized for service
 
WELDON, N.C. – During Founders Day in September, Halifax Community College (HCC) Board of Trustees member Lillie J. Solomon was honored for more than 25 years of service by the Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT). She was presented an ACCT lifetime membership and a plaque.

In addition to serving on the ACCT Board of Directors from 1996-98, Solomon participated with distinction on various committees, including:
  • Minority Affairs Committee (now the Diversity Committee) as an elected member in 1999
  • Communications and Education Committee as an associate member in 2002 and 2006
  • Governance and Bylaws Committee as an associate member from 2003-05
In addition, Solomon has served as a regional and national chair of the ACCT Minority Affairs Committee. She has received awards for outstanding leadership and dedicated service to the ACCT Minority Affairs Committee and the ACCT board of directors.

Solomon has been an active trustee during the administration of all four HCC presidents. She has served on various HCC committees and has served as chair of the HCC Board of Trustees. She is presently the chair of the Finance Committee.

Also, Solomon supports the HCC Foundation Inc. annually through the Lillie J. Solomon Scholarship.
