HCC hosts Constitution Day 2011
WELDON, N.C. – Halifax Community College (HCC) hosted its seventh annual Constitution & Citizenship Day, Sept. 16. The event took place in the 100 Building. Federal law requires that any agency receiving federal funds acknowledge Constitution Day.

The keynote speaker for the event was Dr. Kennetta H. Perry of the history faculty at East Carolina University. Perry addressed the topic, “U.S. Negroes, Your Fight is Our Fight: Black Britons and the 1963 March on Washington,” where she described how disenfranchisement in the South during that time was global in scope and sparked a struggle for citizenship among black British activists.
