HCC BLET Alumni awarded Scholarships

WELDON, N.C. – The Northampton Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #47 recently awarded Halifax Community College (HCC) Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) alumni, Enfield Police Chief Eddie Buffaloe and Northampton County Sheriff’s Office Det. Lt. Brenda Burnette with scholarships to continue their education. Both recipients are pursuing degrees in criminal justice. Buffaloe is also an HCC BLET instructor.

The scholarships, worth $500 each, are given in honor of three fallen officers from Northampton County. In an effort to raise funds, Lowe’s Distribution Center donated a tiller and powered lawn mower to benefit the lodge’s raffle project. More than $1,000 was raised.
