HCC hosts International Day, Food Tasting for fourth year

 

Halifax Community College (HCC) held its fourth annual International Day & Food Tasting Feb. 24 as part of Black History Month activities.

Prior to the food tasting, guests were treated to a cultural awareness program. Program participants included: HCC President Dr. Ervin V. Griffin Sr., Dean of Curriculum Programs Dr. Harriet Morrison, Director of Institutional Research Dr. Edwin Imasuen, Computer Information Systems Instructor Emmanuel Obi, Business Administration Instructor Lateef Balogun, and Early Childhood Education Instructor Sithah Campbell who was assisted by student Trivette Clark.

 For the food tasting, treats ranged from banana pudding to Red Velvet cake, collards to navy beans, various chicken dishes to different Southern foods, meatballs to barbecue and much more.  

 Food contributors included: Abrams, A Catered Affair, Bonnie Benthall, Modessa Boone, Sithah Campbell, Carolina Restaurant, Clem’s, David’s Restaurant, Dr. Ervin V. Griffin Sr., HCC Cosmetology, Hilda Hawkins, Tony & Dr. Erica Holmes, Jennifer Jones, Oscar’s Restaurant, Pearl’s Country Kitchen, P.R.I.D.E., Ralph’s Barbecue, Bessie Reed-Moore, and Student Support Services. Faculty, staff, community volunteers and students from P.R.I.D.E., SGA, and Women of Excellence participated.
