RNs have opportunity to pursue BSN degree at HCC

Halifax Community College (HCC) has formed a partnership with North Carolina Central University (NCCU) and Halifax Regional Medical Center to extend one of HCC’s oldest programs into the larger regional area. Individuals who are registered nurses can pursue a Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) degree through NCCU at HCC.

NCCU plans to begin the first cohort at HCC during the first session of summer school, which begins May 24, 2011, with a bridge course. Interested students may enroll in the course if they have completed most pre-requisite courses. Remaining pre-requisite courses may be taken as students progress through the program.

Plans are underway to offer the courses as hybrid, which is a combination of seated and online instruction.

By joining a cohort, students will have the support of peers as they proceed through the courses. Plus, the cohort is designed to help students stay on track to graduate in one or two years.
