RNs have opportunity to pursue BSN
degree at HCC
Halifax Community College (HCC) has
formed a partnership with North Carolina Central University
(NCCU) and Halifax Regional Medical Center to extend one of
HCC’s oldest programs into the larger regional area.
Individuals who are registered nurses can pursue a Bachelor
of Nursing (BSN) degree through NCCU at HCC.
NCCU plans to begin the first cohort at
HCC during the first session of summer school, which begins
May 24, 2011, with a bridge course. Interested students may
enroll in the course if they have completed most
pre-requisite courses. Remaining pre-requisite courses may
be taken as students progress through the program.
Plans are underway to offer the courses
as hybrid, which is a combination of seated and online
By joining a cohort, students will have
the support of peers as they proceed through the courses.
Plus, the cohort is designed to help students stay on track
to graduate in one or two years.
