HCC to observe American Indian Heritage Month, Nov. 9

Halifax Community College (HCC) will observe American Indian Heritage Month, starting at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 9, at The Centre. Festivities will include a free educational program catered to middle and high school students and adults. This event provides a wonderful opportunity to learn about American Indian culture and traditions.

This year’s program will feature poetry by Bell Frye, a presentation by Patricia Richardson on ceremonial dress and culture, updates from tribal representatives and Dr. Ogletree Richardson as the keynote speaker. Special awards will be handed out and vendors will be on hand to exhibit arts and crafts as well.

The event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact the Office of Institutional Advancement at (252) 538-4319 or (252) 536-7214.
