HCC holds QEP Day with food and fun


Halifax Community College (HCC) held Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) Day on Sept. 23 in The Centre. Some 300 students, faculty and staff attended the event and enjoyed food and fun. Student Support Services, PRIDE, Women of Excellence, Student Government Association and the HCC CIRCLE Program sponsored QEP Day.


Students had the opportunity to register for door prizes, which were provided by the Women of Excellence mentoring group, Family Fare-BP and Starbucks. They also competed in four rounds of Jeopardy, featuring questions about the QEP and student organizations and services. In the gallery, a number of student services and organizations set up tables with information. For lunch, attendees enjoyed free pizza and drinks. After lunch, the HCC CIRCLE Program Movie was shown. Students were also given QEP packs consisting of a QEP backpack, t-shirt and pen.


Bulletin board contest winners were announced:

1st place: Student Government Association—Puzzle Pieces board (received certificates

and Walmart gift cards)

2nd place: Steps to Math Success Pilot Group—“Reap Rewards” Watermelon-themed

board (received certificates)

3rd place: PRIDE Male Mentoring group—Math Lab (received certificates)

Honorable Mention: Design Club (received certificates)


Walmart gift cards for first place finishers were sponsored by the SGA. Ribbons for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and Honorable Mention will be placed on the winning boards. Group certificates for bulletin boards also went to: Cosmetology, Steps to Math Success Pilot Group (two other boards), PRIDE (300 Building board), Dental Hygiene, LPN Class 2010 Graduates, RN Class 2010-2011, and SGA (300 Building and 500 Building).
