BriteSmilz makes gift to Hawkins Scholarship

Director of BriteSmilz Family & Community Connections, LLC, Evelyn S. Dawson recently presented a $5,000 gift to the Damian S. Hawkins Memorial Scholarship, which was originally established at HCC in 2005. This was the last installment of a $25,000 total gift.
The Damian S. Hawkins Memorial Scholarship recognizes and promotes academic achievement and excellence for students enrolled in the Human Services Technology Program at the college. To be selected, students must be enrolled full-time in the HCC Human Services Technology Program and plan to continue their education and obtain a bachelorís or masterís degree in social work or psychology and specialize in working with at-risk or troubled youth.

Selection is also based on a grade point average of 2.5 or higher, residence in Halifax or Northampton counties, two letters of recommendation recognizing the applicantís qualities of character and leadership, and demonstration of financial need as evidenced by a written statement from the applicant.
