HCC seeks to honor alumni and community supporters during annual Founders Day ceremony

 

WELDON – Halifax Community College (HCC) will hold a Founders Day Ceremony at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 8 in The Centre. North Carolina Community College President, Dr. Scott Ralls will be the keynote speaker. The event is free and open to the public and is a celebration of HCC’s 42nd anniversary.

 

During the ceremony, two new awards will be presented. The first is the Distinguished Alumni Award, which will be presented to the HCC alum with significant personal or professional achievements and who has impacted the community. The second is the HCC Community Service Award, which will be presented to a person or business that has been committed to HCC and shown support of any type to the college community.

 

Completion of a nomination form is required. The nomination includes a brief information form and submission of a short essay detailing qualities in the identified areas. Nominations will be accepted through Friday, Aug. 21 by mail, e-mail or via online submission.

 

When making a recommendation to the committee for a nomination, individuals should take care to be thorough and include details in the submission. The committee makes selections based solely on the write-up that is submitted.
