HCC Leadership Institute holds January session
 
WELDON, N.C. – Halifax Community College (HCC) held its January Leadership Institute session on Jan. 30. North Carolina Community College System (NCCCS) President Dr. R. Scott Ralls presented "Leadership in North Carolina Community Colleges." NCCCS General Counsel Q. Shanté Martin presented "The Law and Social Media: It’s All About the First Amendment."

The Institute was established in May 2012 under the direction of HCC President/CEO Dr. Ervin V. Griffin, Sr. and Sherida Gholston, leadership coordinator. Guest speakers who participate in the Institute come from all walks of life. Many have years of experience working in higher education. The goal of the Institute is for participants to seek to obtain the knowledge and training that is necessary to become effective leaders within the community college system and beyond. Institute events are funded in part by the U.S. Department of Education PBI Formula Grant.
