Lovett named Volunteer of the Year
WELDON, N.C. – Halifax Community College (HCC) Director of Title III, Sponsored & Special Projects Daniel Lovett has been named the Roanoke Valley Chamber of Commerce 2014 Volunteer of the Year. Lovett received the award at the chamberís 65th Annual Meeting held on Jan. 22 at Kirkwood Adams Community Center.

The award was in appreciation for Lovett's outstanding service to the chamber and the community. He shared credit with the PReparing men for Intellectual, acaDemic, & Educational success (PRIDE) Male Mentoring Program for the honor. Program members have contributed numerous hours in support of their ďTake PRIDE in Your Community" projects.

"We try to get our students out into the public and involved in activities where they give and donít expect anything back expect personal enrichment. Over the years, we've probably logged in more than 1,000 hours of time," said Lovett. He stressed that there is always a learning process behind the activities.
