"Mine Eyes Have Seen The Glory" presented on April 17
WELDON, N.C. – The Children’s Theater Series at Halifax Community College (HCC) featured the Virginia Repertory Theatre, formally known as Theatre IV, in a performance of “Mine Eyes Have Seen The Glory” on April 17 at The Centre.

In recognition of the sesquicentennial of the American Civil War, "Mine Eyes Have Seen the Glory" is a stirring musical revue that recounts our nation's history from both Northern and Southern perspectives. Using songs and first-person narratives written and sung by the men and women who lived and died in those harrowing times, Mine Eyes will enrich students' understanding of the Civil War and the social and political upheavals that called it into being.

The performance featured American classics like “When Johnny Comes Marching Home," “Dixie Land, Lincoln and Liberty," “No More Auction Block for Me," "The Battle Hymn of the Republic" and many more. It is filled with foot stomping celebrations, soulful laments, gentle folk tunes, stirring marches and heartfelt gospel that enrich one's understanding of the Civil War.
