HCC holds Plus 50 Program Open House
WELDON, N.C. – Halifax Community College (HCC) hosted a Plus 50 Program Open House on Oct. 9 in Building 400. The event was free and applications were taken on site. More than 40 staff, visitors, students and prospective students attended. The Plus 50 Program offers older adults tailored courses, flexible scheduling and more.

During the open house, prospective students were given an overview of the program and heard from administration as well as instructors in the Certified Nursing Assistant, Effective Teacher Training, Human Resources Development and Career Readiness Certification programs. They also heard from a Plus 50 student.

Many Americans age 50 and up who did not finish college are now heading back to campus. By combining their life and work experience with a degree or certificate in the high-demand fields of health care and education, they are opening the door to new job opportunities.
