HCC hosts International Day & Food Tasting
WELDON, N.C. – The sixth annual International Day & Food Tasting was held on Feb. 28. Foods from around the world and various cultures were featured. International attire was also worn. Cultural demonstrations kicked off the event, which is part of the 2013 Lyceum Series of Special Events.

Prior to the food tasting, guests were treated to a cultural awareness program including:
  • A video presentation on the history of the Philippines
  • Girl Scouts of the USA World Friendship Day Awareness
  • A video presentation on zumba

  • Other activities in the Gallery included: an African art exhibit by Kristi Hampton, permanent make up by Yogie and the Girl Scouts of the USA.

    For the food tasting, guests had the opportunity to sample foods from around the world. Featured foods were: pancit bihon, embutido, chicken adobo, Lumpiang Shanghai, fried rice, cassava cake, bibingka, menudo, leche flan, lechon and steamed rice, shrimp fried rice, soul food, banana pudding, apple cake, hushpuppies, pear pie, meatballs, honey barbeque wings, macaroni and cheese, ystervarkies, sloppy joes, rumaki, chicken and pastry, pecan pie, "1800" chocolate cake, butter beans, TeaAde, sweet potato, corn break, fried okra, sweet tea, fried chicken, collard greens, rice, lasagna, chicken salad, navy beans, BBQ, Filipino dish, General Tso’s chicken, arroz con pollo, pork and turkey BBQ, Scottish tea biscuits, barbeque and lemon pepper chicken and curry chicken wings.
