Medical Office Administration

The Medical Office Administration curriculum prepares individuals for positions in medical and other health-related offices. It equips graduates with administrative and support skills applicable in any medical environment.

With the anticipated growth in this area and the increase in the average population age, the medical/health field is becoming one of the fastest growing employment areas. Only those who are well trained will obtain a position, with the ability to advance, in this fast changing health environment. The ability to change with the new emerging technologies quickly will enhance the advancement of those in the health industry.

Graduates may complete courses in Medical Terminology, Medical Legal Issues, Medical Coding, Billing & Insurance, Transcription, Administrative Office Procedures, Medical Insurance Coding, and Medical Office Simulation. Students may also complete courses in Microsoft WORD, EXCEL, POWERPOINT and ACCESS. These courses prepare graduates to compete for those positions available.

There are many opportunities available in medical offices, dentist offices, insurance companies, home health services, injury law offices, and other health-related organizations.

2-year Associate in Applied Science

1-year Diploma

2-semester Medical Coding & Billing Certificate


How long will it take me to complete the program?

The program will take approximately 2 years for the associate’s degree, 3 semesters for the diploma and 2 semesters for the certificate.


Note:  It may be slightly longer if you need to take remedial (brush-up) courses in Math and English.
