Artwork chosen for 2009 Raleigh exhibit

Two pieces from Halifax Community College have been selected by North Carolina Community College System (NCCCS) President Emeritus H. Martin Lancaster for inclusion in the 2009 H. Martin Lancaster Community College Art Exhibition. The artwork will be displayed in the Caswell Building in downtown Raleigh. Each year, community college artists are invited to participate. More than 1,800 pieces were submitted for consideration and Lancaster selected 135 pieces for display.

Among the work to be displayed is “Potecasi Creek” by Dr. Julie Parker Dilday, department head of the Humanities and Social Sciences division and psychology instructor at HCC. The acrylic painting was created from a photograph taken outside of the town of Winton, N.C. Dilday resides in Murfreesboro.

Also selected is “A Fall Day” by first-year Advertising & Graphic Design student Jeffrey Ellis of Roanoke Rapids. The digital photograph was taken along the Roanoke Canal Trail in Roanoke Rapids.
