New Energy for Student Services and Academics Working Together to Make Front Door Engagement Inescapable
WELDON, N.C. – Halifax Community College (HCC) staff presented a session at the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges’ (SACSCOC) 2015 Annual Meeting in Houston, TX. This session highlighted HCC’s model for bridging academics and student services which is an extensive collaboration to provide students with skills needed for strengthening their capacity to succeed in developmental and subsequent courses. This QEP CIRCLE Program (Classroom Innovations Result in Creative Learning Environments) model is designed to facilitate the development of self-regulated learners and problem solvers. This model includes the Student Services Initiative component which targets academic self-efficacy through interactive workshops that support first-year student experiences.
