HCC Leadership Institute kicks off second year
 
WELDON, N.C. – Halifax Community College (HCC) kicked off its second year of the HCC Leadership Institute with the class of 2013-2014 holding its first workshop on Sept. 27. Dr. Donny Hunter spoke at the event.

Hunter is the president and CEO of the North Carolina Association of Community College Trustees and president of National Search and Education Consulting. In his private business, he conducts searches for college presidents and provides leadership training for administrators and governing boards. He is a sought after speaker, teacher and facilitator with an interactive style and an approach to leadership training that emphasizes practicality and common sense rather than theories of leadership.

About the HCC Leadership Institute
The Institute was established in May 2012 under the direction of HCC President/CEO Dr. Ervin Griffin, Sr. and Sherida Gholston, leadership coordinator. The Institute consists of 25 administrators, faculty and staff. Guest speakers who participate in the Institute come from all walks of life. Many have years of experience working in higher education. The goal of the Institute is for participants to seek to obtain the knowledge and training that is necessary to become effective leaders within the community college system and beyond. Institute events are funded in part by the U.S. Department of Education PBI Formula Grant.
