Seeking New Foundation Board Members

The HCC Foundation is seeking new board members who are:

  • Connected to the College in some way (graduate, former student, relative of an HCC graduate or former student, etc.)
  • Influential and respected in the community (with the ability to attract other good people to the Foundation Board and to influence people to give to the Foundation)
  • Passionate about HCC, community colleges and/or higher education
  • Experts in different professions, including law, estate planning, insurance, real estate, sales, marketing, public relations and fundraising
  • Residents of HCC's service area (Halifax County and part of Northampton County)

Duties of Board Members

Following are the duties of HCC Foundation Board members:

  1. Assist in the decision-making process of fiscal matters, goal setting, long-range planning and other matters affecting the operation of the Foundation
  2. Assist the College president and/or executive director with special projects
  3. Attend a majority of the Board meetings and committee meetings per year
  4. Attend and/or participate in the annual donor recognition luncheon, annual golf tournament and other Foundation and College special events as needed
  5. Become familiar with the mission, vision, values and programs of the College and Foundation
  6. Identify, cultivate and/or solicit individuals and/or organizations each year
  7. Maintain confidentiality and be discreet
  8. Make a personal financial contribution to the Foundation on an annual basis
  9. Serve as an active member of at least one Foundation committee
  10. Serve as an ambassador of the College
  11. Serve at least one full term
