Career & College Promise (CCP) allows eligible high school students to enroll in college classes at Halifax Community College (HCC). CCP offers high school students options to pursue educational and career goals using a rigorous yet supportive structure.
TUITION-FREE HCC CLASSES– The savings are REAL – check it out! (ONLY tuition is waived by the State of NC. Students are financially responsible for all other course fees and materials.)
COLLEGE CREDITS – Successfully completing HCC courses means building a college transcript. Students may earn dual credit to meet high school graduation requirements with those same HCC courses.
3 COLLEGE TRANSFER PATHWAYS– Earn credits towards a bachelor’s degree.
11 CAREER & TECHNICAL EDUCATION PATHWAYS – Earn a certificate or diploma in one of our 11 technical fields or career areas.

Eligible juniors and seniors may participate in College Transfer Pathways, Career and Technical Education Pathways and Workforce Continuing Education Pathways.
To be eligible for enrollment, the student must have:
Rising juniors and seniors not meeting the minimum grade/readiness requirements above may be able participate in Career and Technical Education Pathways without Universal General Education Transfer Component (UGETC) courses and/or Workforce Continuing Education Pathways. To be eligible for enrollment in this manner, recommendation of the high school principal and their rationale is required as well as recommendation of the college’s Chief Academic Officer.
Additional Information:
Students may only take courses within their selected pathway as required by program legislation. With approval of the high school principal or his/her designee and the college’s Chief Academic Officer or chief student development administrator, a student may concurrently enroll in two pathways. Courses in one program of study may not be substituted for courses in another program. A student who completes a CCP pathway while still enrolled in high school may continue to earn college credits leading to the completion of the associate degree with the approval of the high school principal and the college administrator.

Homeschool, private, charter, as well as high school students outside of the district are welcome to participate in the Career and College Promise Program at Halifax Community College. Students are subject to the same eligibility requirements.
There are three Cooperative Innovative High Schools (CIHS) located on Halifax Community College’s campus. There is one located off of our campus. A CIHS allows eligible high school students to complete an associate’s degree within five years. Eligibility requirements are established jointly by the local board of education and local board of trustees. Interested rising 9th graders should contact the CIHS directly regarding the application process.
