Fire/EMS

Halifax Community trains fire and rescue personnel throughout Halifax and surrounding areas. The Fire Services program is designed to provide full-time and volunteer fire departments with the opportunity to gain knowledge, practical skills and certification in the following:

• Modern firefighting
• Rescue
• Officer development
• Fire department management

A range of specialty classes, based on both departmental needs and new training standards, is offered throughout the year.

• Firefighter
• Hazardous materials
• ICS
• Rapid intervention
• Technical rescuer

Any member of a North Carolina fire department, rescue squad, EMS or emergency services agency may attend as a fee-waived student. Classes offered can lead to Firefighter I and Firefighter II certification by the North Carolina Office of State Fire Marshal.
