Halifax Community College (HCC) is a public two-year college and a member of the NC Community College System. HCC is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACSCOC). In order to maintain its membership with SACSCOC, HCC must adhere to the requirement of developing, implementing, and completing a Quality Enhancement Plan QEP).
Halifax Community College has a new Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) that focuses on advising is designed to help students enter an academic pathway and stay on an academic pathway to achieving their goals.
The plan includes:
SACSCOC Principles of Accreditation – Standard 7.2
The institution has a Quality Enhancement Plan that (a) has a topic identified through its ongoing, comprehensive planning and evaluation processes; (b) has broad-based support of institutional constituencies; (c) focuses on improving specific student learning outcomes and/or student success; (d) commits resources to initiate, implement and complete the QEP; and (e) includes a plan to assess achievement.
QEP stands for Quality Enhancement Plan. The QEP is an integral component of the reaffirmation of accreditation process and is derived from an institution’s ongoing comprehensive planning and evaluation processes. It reflects and affirms a commitment to enhance overall institutional quality and effectiveness by focusing on an issue the institution considers important to improving student learning outcomes and/or student success.
HCC’s accrediting body, SACSCOC, requires its member institutions to develop and submit a Quality Enhancement Plan as part of the accreditation reaffirmation.
Resulting from HCC’s 2017-2022 strategic plan development process and area of focus survey results administered Fall 2017, the area of focus for the QEP is “Advising.”
