Important Dates & Deadlines

Priority FAFSA Completion Dates

In order to provide adequate time for processing and awarding financial aid prior to class starting, priority dates are identified for each semester. If you submit your financial aid application after the established priority dates, you must be prepared to pay for tuition, fees, and books. Your award letter will become available in Self-Service once your file is complete.

Notes

*Please note, financial aid is paid only for classes that a student attends. Taking courses that begin after the first official day of the semester (a course that starts in the mini-semester, for example), payment for that coursework will be reflected at a later date after that course actually begins and attendance has been confirmed. For more details on payment dates, feel free to contact the Financial Aid Office.

**Financial aid is disbursed only for courses required for your current program of study. Additional coursework taken outside of a student program of study does not figure into the number of credit hours calculated for financial aid disbursement purposes. A course outside of a student program of study would be any course not specifically required for completion of the degree.

Note: required remedial coursework can be included for a maximum of 30 credit hours.

Satisfactory Academic Progress Appeal Request

Federal regulations require students to maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) in three areas. Students must have a Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.0, cumulative minimum 67% pass rate, and not exceed the 150% maximum time frame of their published program (major) for financial aid eligibility at the end of each semester. It is the student’s responsibility to stay informed of the college’s Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) standards and to monitor his/her own progress.

In some cases, a student’s failure to be in compliance with one or more areas of SAP is due to events beyond the student’s control. If such mitigating circumstances can be documented for the specific semester(s) when the deficiencies occurred, the student may submit a completed SAP Appeal, along with all required documentation. Submission of the appeal does not guarantee approval. Students are responsible for payment of classes by the tuition due date and/or for dropping all classes before the first day of class to avoid charges. Please visit the financial aid office to see if you have a qualifying unusual circumstance to complete a Satisfactory Academic Progress Appeal Request.
