The General Educational Development (GED®) exam, the High School Equivalency Test (HiSET)® and the Test Assessing Secondary Completion (TASC) offer high school equivalency credentials to individuals who did not obtain a high school diploma. Individuals have a choice to take the GED® exam, the HiSET exam or TASC exam which will lead to the same High School Equivalency Diploma. Classes do not have registration fees. However, students are required to pay examination fees. In North Carolina, all students taking the GED® examination are required to pay a total of $80, which covers the entire battery of GED® tests. The 2014 GED® testing series consist of literacy, mathematics, science and social studies. In North Carolina, all students taking the HiSET examination are required to pay a total of $50 and all students taking the TASC is required to pay $54 which covers the entire battery of tests. The HiSET and TASC testing series consist of reading, writing, science, social studies and mathematics. Currently, the first two GED? HiSET?, and TASC® retakes are free in North Carolina. The new GED?, HiSET(R) and TASC tests are aligned with the state?s Common Core Standards. These new assessments are designed to help prepare students to be college and career ready.

For students who have taken GED® tests before 2014 and did not complete GED® requirements, these GED® tests have expired and you must start over. However, motivated and qualified instructors are in place to help you reach your educational goals!
