WELDON, N.C. – Halifax Community College (HCC) will be hosting an emergency response drill on Thursday, April 20.
In conjunction with agencies throughout Halifax and Northampton counties, HCC will hold an active shooter response drill. All faculty and staff will be participating, along with outside members of the community.
"This training will concentrate on all aspects of such an emergency," said Kevin Kupietz, the Fire and EMS coordinator at HCC. "We will be analyzing everything from the reuniting of students with family, clearing buildings for explosives, and maintaining businesses continuity."
Following the exercise, there will be a mock press conference, allowing local public information officers the opportunity to practice emergency response with media.
The training will involve loud noises, realistic patients and other aspects to make the experience as lifelike as possible.
