HCC Hosts Performance of The Song of Mulan
WELDON, N.C. – Halifax Community College will host the Virginia Rep on Tour, the nationís second largest touring theatre for young audiences, on Friday, March 10 for a performance of The Song of Mulan. The show will be in The Centre at HCC and will begin at 9:30 a.m.

Based on the epic Chinese poem, The Ballad of Mulan, our noble Mulan embodies honor and heroism whose positive nature stands the test of time. When Mulan learns that her ailing father is drafted into Khanís army, she protects him by serving in his place. Disguised as a man, she risks everything to maintain family honor. This noble Chinese folk tale features an extraordinary heroine, authentic costumes and props, and lovely songs. It also provides an educational journey to the heart and soul of an ancient civilization.

Virginia Rep on Tour, founded in 1975, has been internationally acclaimed for excellence as a theatre for young audiences. February 1st, 2002 Virginia Rep on Tourís production of Buffalo Soldier was performed, by request, at the Pentagon to open their celebration of Black History Month. The company performs live for over 500,000 students, parents and teachers each year throughout 33 states and the District of Columbia.
