HCC to Host Advanced Manufacturing and STEM Careers Expo |
|
WELDON, N.C. – On Thursday, April 13, Halifax Community College (HCC), with support from the Roanoke Valley Chamber of Commerce and local school districts, will host an Advanced Manufacturing and STEM Careers Awareness Day.
From 9 a.m. until 2 p.m., residents and students will have the opportunity to meet with leaders in the advanced manufacturing industry, as well as leaders in STEM careers, to learn more about opportunities available. Participants will have the opportunity to discover career pathways that will help guide students in to the multiple fields, as well as learn about the degrees available to further their careers.
STEM careers, or Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math, are focused on in-depth problem solving and unique solution paths that further all fields. Some of these careers include industrial and civil engineers, medical scientists, computer designers, and economists. Advanced Manufacturing careers use innovative technology to improve or enhance current products or processes. These careers include robotics, nanotechnology, electromechanical equipment.
