HCC hosts Advanced Manufacturing and STEM Careers Awareness Day
WELDON, N.C. – The Halifax Community College (HCC) School of Vocational and Industrial Technology hosted a North Carolina Advanced Manufacturing and STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) Careers Awareness Day on April 12 at The Centre@HCC. The event was free and open to the public.

The keynote speaker for the event was Lowe’s Regional General Manager Elton Wright. Wright stated, "An investment in yourself today will be an investment in your future." He also said, "The better you do, the better we all do." Participants had a chance to meet with business and industry representatives, participate in hands-on demonstrations, learn about educational opportunities and plan their career pathway. Over 250 people attended the event.

Advanced manufacturing and STEM careers are modern, sophisticated and use cutting-edge technology to create products and services in fields such as aviation, communication, biotechnology and health care.
