HCC joins Weldon Middle School with Soap Box Derby Fund Raiser |
|
WELDON, N.C. – Halifax Community College Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) assisted Weldon Middle School with raising funds for the Soap Box Derby. The Soap Box Derby is a youth soapbox car racing program which has been run in the United States since 1934. World Championship finals are held each July at Derby Downs in Akron, Ohio.
The purpose of Phi Theta Kappa is to recognize and encourage scholarship among two-year college students. To achieve this purpose, Phi Theta Kappa provide opportunities for the development of leadership and service, for an intellectual climate for exchange of ideas and ideals, for lively fellowship for scholars, and for stimulation of interest in continuing academic excellence.
