WELDON, N.C. – Halifax Community College (HCC) representatives visited Weldon Steel on Jan. 12 as part of an effort to visit all of the businesses and industries that the College serves.
Weldon Steel was founded in 1987. Since 1998, W. K. Neal Jr. has owned and operated the facility. It has more than doubled in employees and office space, and has most recently completed an office expansion of 3,600 square feet to allow for job growth expansions.
Weldon Steel has completed projects at VCU School of Medicine, a 12-story medical school in downtown Richmond, a patient bed tower at Wake Med in Raleigh and multiple jobs at universities in the Mid-Atlantic including UVA, UNC, NCSU, Duke, CAN VCU, Virginia Tech, Radford, Old Dominion and other educational facilities. They have also completed projects at Camp Lejeune, Fort Lee, Fort Pickett and the Naval Station Norfolk among others.
HCC values the current partnership with Weldon Steel and looks forward to working with their management to assist with the training and development of their workforce as well as the material assistance provided to HCC by Weldon Steel. Future discussion will be ongoing to keep abreast of the needs of the changing and dynamic work needs and technology advances within our industry.
