HCC kicks off fourth Leadership Institute
WELDON, N.C. – Halifax Community College Leadership Institute kicked off its fourth year on Feb 5. The Institute was established in May 2012 under the direction of HCC President/CEO Dr. Ervin Griffin Sr. and Sherida Gholston, leadership coordinator.

The HCC Leadership Institute is a year-long leadership program for the Collegeís employees. The goals of the institute are:
  • Identify and develop individual leadership competencies
  • Promote interaction and networking across college divisions
  • Build problem-solving skills
  • Analyze HCC in the context of state and national models
The institute will include a series of professional seminars and interactive sessions presented by local and state leaders in higher education. Program topics will include:
  • Community college history and mission
  • Leadership skills for community college employees
  • Using critical success factors as a leadership tool
  • Building professional resources, networks, budgets and finance
  • Presidentís roundtable discussions
Guest speakers who participate in the Institute come from all walks of life. Many have years of experience working in higher education. Institute events are funded in part by the U.S. Department of Education PBI Formula Grant.
