Instruction includes consumable and non-consumable electrode welding and cutting processes. Courses may include math, print reading, metallurgy, welding inspection, and destructive and non-destructive testing providing the student with industry-standard skills developed through classroom training and practical application. Graduates of the Welding Technology curriculum may be employed as entry-level technicians in welding and metalworking industries. Career opportunities also exist in construction, manufacturing, fabrication, sales, quality control, supervision, and welding-related self-employment. ## Course Requirements A student who enrolls into the welding program will need personal protective equipment and tools. This equipment includes the following: - Welding Helmet - Safety Glasses - Gloves - Work Boots and Work Clothing - Chipping Hammer - Wire Brush Students will also need two textbooks which cover all welding courses. Other textbooks will be needed for the diploma courses that include academic related courses. ## Program Admission Requirements The College welcomes any high school graduate or non-graduate who is 18 years of age or older and who can benefit from the educational instruction programs offered. Academic Pathways are available to allow any tradition, non-traditional, or current high school students the opportunity for enrollment in the College. Also included in this training is a cutting processes course and symbols and specifications course. This is a 6 month training that concentrates on fabrication and welding with the GMAW (Mig) and GTAW (Tig) process. This is an 8 month training that includes all core welding courses. You will learn all welding processes along with cutting processes and symbols and specifications. This training is offered to high school students and includes welding, cutting processes, and symbols and specifications. This is a 1 year training program that will give the graduate the highest experience level in welding that HCC offers. This program offers advanced level courses for plate and pipe welding.
