In summary, Halifax Community College is committed to providing equal access to academic programs for all students, and we are dedicated to working with eligible students to provide them with the support they need to succeed. ## Process for Requesting Accommodations Note: Accommodations will be determined by the documentation presented to the Disability Counselor and in consultation with the student. Students are encouraged to submit the supporting documentation at least 30 days before the semester begins. Complete the Disability Services Request Form - A Disability Counselor will contact you for a consultation. If meeting the Disability Counselor in person is not an option, the Counselor will consult with you by phone or virtually. - Take supporting documentation (if needed) to a qualified medical professional for completion and return completed documentation to the Disability Counselor. - The Disability Counselor will contact you to discuss your approved accommodations (typically within 5-7 business days). ## Referrals Students do not need a referral to receive counseling services from the Counseling and Career Center. However, we encourage faculty/staff members or friends to make a referral if they believe that a student/friend could benefit from general counseling services or if a student/friend is experiencing stress.
