HCC Creates Presidential Lecture Series
WELDON, N.C. – Halifax Community College (HCC) is proud to announce the creation of the Presidential Lecture Series, an annual series of speakers that offer a unique perspective. All of the events will be free and open to the public.

As part of its mission to increase public awareness on social issues, Dr. Michael Elam, president of HCC, created the lecture series to produce an arena for diverse and unique speakers. Each speaker selected will be an expert on a specific topic, ensuring more in-depth conversations around the issues facing our world.

"In an effort to work toward fulfilling the college mission set by the HCC Board of Trustees, I have established the Presidential Speaker Series to promote educational, cultural, and economic progress in the Roanoke Valley," Elam said.

The Presidential Lecture Series is one piece of the Institute for Progressive Communities, an initiative Elam began in 2018. The Institute will serve as the starting point for programs and projects that strive to unify our community.

The Presidential Lecture Series will have its inaugural event in March.
