HCC SBC to Host Multiple Sessions for Small Business Owners
 
WELDON, N.C. – Halifax Community College (HCC) Small Business Center (SBC) is hosting several sessions during the month of February to assist small business owners in reaching their goals.

On February 6, the SBC will host a Facebook for Small Business Owners Seminar. It seems the entire world is on Facebook. And with such a large base of people, it is possible to reach them so they visit your website helps your business. But it takes a careful road map to get you there. This session delves into the specific tactics you can use to engage with people on Facebook and drive them back to your website. Topics covered include: choosing the best Facebook URL, using keywords strategically, helping your user above all, and optimize your “info" tab. This seminar will be held at HCC in Room 412 in the 400 Building from 6-8 pm.

On February 8, the SBC will host a seminar "Grant Writing I." This class will teach you basics in grant writing, grant writing tips, organizational readiness and accountability. This seminar will be held at HCC in Room 505 in the 500 Building from 6-9 pm.

On February 12, the SBC will host a seminar on "Event Planning: How to use Special Events to Attract Customers." Join us and learn how to plan an event to attract new customers, market your brand and refresh existing customers. This seminar provides you with step by step guidelines that will assist you in planning your event. This seminar will be held in Room 412 in the 400 Building from 6-8 pm.

On February 15, the SBC will host a seminar "Grant Writing II." Grant Writing II will focus on addressing the different components of the grant and ensuring that all questions are answered. We will review letter requests, appointments and interviews, following up and tips for successful grant writing for your small business. This seminar will be held at HCC in Room 505 in the 500 Building from 6-9 pm.

On February 19, the SBC will host a seminar "Facebook and the Small Business Owner." This session gets into the specific tactics you can use to engage with people on Facebook and drive them back to your website. This seminar will be held at HCC in Room 411 in the 400 Building from 6-8 pm.

On February 20, the SBC will host a seminar "How to Start a Business." This course provides the advice and strategies of the some of the leading entrepreneurs concerning what it really takes to start a new venture. Starting a New Business moves you through the important tasks of building a strong foundation for a business to the more tactical aspects concerning marketing, managing, and money. This course will also show you how to protect your ideas, how to hire employees, how to find out what licenses and regulations may apply. This seminar will be held at HCC in Room 412 in the 400 Building from 6-8 pm.

On February 21, the SBC will host a seminar "Bookkeeping for Small Business." Gain a workable knowledge of how to properly record financial transactions for your business. Discover the three most important financial reports and how to use them to make the best-informed business decisions. If you’re a new business owner or need a refresher on the basics of accounting, this seminar is designed for you. This seminar will be held at HCC in Room 126 in the 100 Building from 6-8 pm.

On February 22, the SBC will host a seminar "Grant Writing III." Grant Writing III will focus on the learned basic skills of your research to begin putting your proposal together and preparing for submissions. Deadlines and other critical check-offs will be discussed and your needs statement finalized. This seminar will be held at HCC in Room 505 in the 500 Building from 6-9 pm.
