WELDON, N.C. – Halifax Community College held its September 2017 Board of Trustees meeting at HCC on September 19th.
Jerry Edmonds, Interim Dean of Workforce and Economic Development, presented the Halifax Community College Small Business Center Excellence in Entrepreneurship Award to Dave and Heidi Blodgett, owners of Lake Gaston Outfitters. Located in the Lake Gaston area, the Blodgetts shared in a recent article "We are outdoor enthusiasts; however, we have found it a little difficult to find, quality outdoor gear and accessories locally and decided we will address that need. In addition to high quality paddle, hiking & cycling gear we focus on environmentally and socially responsible vendors as well as North Carolina & USA manufacturers."
Mr. David Forester, who has over 18 years of employment experience with the NC Community College system, will become Halifax Community College’s Vice President of Administrative Services effective October 1, 2017.
Halifax Community College (HCC) and the Choanoke Area Development Association (CADA) is the recipient of a "Lowes Hero Project". Through this particular arrangement with the Lowe’s Company and the Lowe’s Distribution Center, HCC/CADA Childcare Center will receive significant upgrades to the outside of the facility and the facility grounds. All of the necessary supplies and much of the labor will be furnished by Lowes and its employees.
Nationwide Insurance and Halifax Community College are in the process of creating a strong national partnership. Through the partnership HCC alumni members and HCC staff will enjoy discounts and Halifax Community College will benefit as well.
