HCC Graduates 12 More Leaders from the Leadership Institute

WELDON, N.C. – On Friday, May 5, the fifth class of the Halifax Community College (HCC) Leadership Institute graduated.

The Leadership Institute, developed by President Emeritus Dr. Ervin V. Griffin, was designed to increase awareness and hone the skills of the future leaders of HCC. Covering such topics as situational leadership, understanding the community college budget process and the challenges facing leaders, the Institute is committed to developing the potential of recognized leaders on campus.

"It really provides an opportunity for leaders to learn more about themselves, as well as more about their colleagues," said Sherida Gholston, director of the Leadership Institute. "Dr. Griffin's vision is being carried out, and HCC is a better place because of the knowledge gained during the seven-month journey."

Since it began in 2012, the HCC Leadership Institute has had more than 50 participants. Each participant has gone on to enhance the environment of HCC and the Roanoke Valley.
