HCC to begin two new programs

WELDON, N.C. – Halifax Community College (HCC) will begin two new programs this fall:

  • Therapeutic and Diagnostic Services, a diploma program that includes three certifications: Nursing Assistant I and Nursing Assistant II (CNA) and Medication Aide. The courses meet the requirements for entrance into the Nursing program.
  • Associate in Engineering, which meets the requirements for acceptance into any of the UNC System universities that offer engineering.
HCC also offers programs with stackable credentials - usually a certificate leading to a diploma, that in turn leads to an associate degree. Two evening programs are also offered; Criminal Justice Technology and an Associate in Arts transfer program. In addition, other evening and online courses are offered through other programs of study. Most programs are almost fully available online.

HCC has articulation agreements with many private as well as state universities and colleges, allowing transfer credits into many of the career and technical education programs. For example, HCC’s Industrial Systems Technology program offers a pathway to ECU’s Industrial Systems bachelor's degree program and Human Services Technology to Elizabeth City State University's Social Work program. Virginia Union University accepts 60 of the associate degree credits and also has scholarships available for those who transfer from HCC. NC A&T offers two articulations where up to 58 credits can be accepted in the Electronics Technology and Information Technology bachelor’s degree programs.

HCC is committed to student success. We have structured pathways; if students follows the pathway an associate’s degree can be completed within two years, a diploma program in one year and a certificate in as little as one semester.
