Halifax Community College – A Top 10 Tech-Savvy Community College Digital Community College Survey Award

WELDON, N.C. – The Center for Digital Educationís Digital Survey Awards honors community colleges that are using technology to improve how they deliver curriculum and services to students, faculty, staff, and the community at large. Award winners demonstrate innovative uses of technology, including online courses and mobile environments, mobile apps, secure platforms, and wireless networks.

"Halifax Community College (HCC) has been ranked in the top ten community colleges by the Digital Community Colleges survey for the past 5 years. This year we achieved our highest ranking for community colleges that enroll up to 5000 students. We were ranked 6th in last yearís survey and moved up to 4th in the 2015-16 rankings," said Jerry Thompson, Director of Information Technology at HCC.

"Halifax Community College won the 4th place for small college category - up to 5,000 students because of the superior work of our small but very effective technology staff," noted President Griffin. Dr. Kecia Ray, executive director for the Center for Digital Education, stated" this yearís survey indicates community colleges are making great strides in using data to improve decisions, providing professional development to assist faculty in the use of technology and creating robust online mobile environments for their students".

All accredited U.S. Community Colleges are eligible to participate in the Digital Community College Survey within the three classifications based on enrollment size. "I was honored, along with the Chairman of HCC Board of Trustees Michael Felt, to accept the 4th place award in the Small college category on behalf of Halifax Community College. This award and continued recognition by the Digital Community College Survey provides even more evidence of the excellence in teaching and learning at HCC," said President Griffin.

President Griffin will officially present the Digital Community College Survey Award 2016 to the Board of Trustees at their annual retreat on April 26, 2016.
