HCC receives New Generation Career Grant
WELDON, N.C. – The N.C. Rural Economic Development Center has awarded Halifax Community College (HCC) a $100,000 New Generation Careers grant to train 56 youth, ages 18-30, and place 41 in jobs in Halifax and Northampton counties. The grant will fund a program called HCC New Generations Careers that will incorporate Human Resource Development training and Career Readiness Certification and will prepare individuals to enroll in nursing assistant, industrial maintenance and computer courses.

As part of the program, at least 25 participants will be placed in work experience arrangements to become familiar with performing a job and gain exposure to the workplace. This is an 18-month project slated to begin this fall semester.
