HCC purchases ambulance to provide training as EMS mobile lab
Halifax Community College (HCC) recently acquired an ambulance to serve as an emergency medical services (EMS) mobile lab. It features all of the equipment and supplies that an ambulance should have and will be used on and off campus for training purposes. The mobile lab mirrors what students will encounter when they get on the job. Equipment such as a heart monitor and an interactive mannequin will give students real-life training. The mobile lab will be used to train certified responders as well as new students. It will be ready for use by this fall and will provide much-needed, hands-on training. It took nearly nine years for the mobile lab project to become a reality. Pictured are HCC Fire Service/EMS Coordinator and Instructor Dr. Kevin Kupietz, left, and HCC President Dr. Ervin V.
