HCC Child Care Center to celebrate National Accreditation on July 26
WELDON, N.C. – The Halifax Community College (HCC) Child Care Center recently earned accreditation from the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). The HCC Child Care Center was the first five-star center in Halifax County and now enjoys the status of being the first and only NAEYC accredited child care center in Halifax County and the surrounding areas. There are approximately 8,000 child care centers and homes in North Carolina. Of those, only 117 have achieved NAEYC accreditation.

In honor of the achievement, the center will hold a celebration and open house on Thursday, July 26 at 10 a.m. in front of Building 600. Weldon Mayor Julia Meacham will emcee the event. The keynote speaker will be WRAL-TV 5 news anchor and reporter Kelcey Carlson. The event is free and open to the public. To RSVP your attendance, contact HCC Child Care Center Director Vicki Collier at 252-536-6385 or e-mail myersv@halifaxcc.edu.
