HCC Continuing Education class offered to Hollister Community

WELDON - Halifax Community College (HCC) Continuing Education is now offering an employability skills class with a concentration on technology at the Ivory Learning Center in Hollister. The class started March 19 and meets twice per week from 4-6:30 p.m. Currently, students are learning about Microsoft Office programs. At the end of the class, participants will have a finished resume that they can use in their job search.

The outreach effort was the result of listening tours that were conducted throughout the HCC service area last spring. Hollister community member Teresa Rudd inquired about a computer class in the area for her husband, Marvin. With the support of HCC officials and Charlean Brown with the Ivory Learning Center, a site was found to hold the class. The center is part of the Ivory Community Development Corporation.
