Nurse Aide I class slated for HCC Weldon Campus
WELDON, N.C. – Halifax Community College’s (HCC) Continuing Education Department will offer a Nurse Aide I (NAI) class starting in February at the HCC campus.

Location: HCC Weldon Campus
Dates: 2/21/12 –5/21/12
Days: Monday-Thursday, 4-8 p.m. (classroom to meet Tuesday-Thursday)
Clinical will meet on Mondays-Thursdays
Time: Clinical to start 4/26/12 - 5/14/12 from 4-8 p.m.

Admission requirements for Nurse Aide I Program
(Pre-registration is required)

1. Complete a current registration form for Nurse Aide I available in the Continuing Education Office Building 400.
2. Take the TABE Reading Placement Test. A student must score on a 9th grade level or higher. A retest can be taken. Test results are good for one year. If you have taken the test within the past year, you do NOT have to retake. Testing will be held in the 500 Building in the Learning Lab, Monday–Thursday, 8 a.m.–9 p.m. and Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
3. Transcripts are not needed. High school Diploma or GED is not required.
4. Must present picture ID and Social Security Card at time of registration. Names on each must match exactly.

1. Registration fee $219.50
2. Accident Insurance $1.50 (included in the registration fee)
3. Professional Liability Insurance - $16 (included in the registration fee)
4. Student ID badge $2 (included in the registration fee)
5. State Criminal Background check - $25 (included in the registration fee)
(Once class has started, this fee is non-refundable)
6. Two uniforms (pants or dresses appropriate to hospital setting. For example: white tops/navy pants)
7. Blood pressure kit (optional)
8. Watch (should have second hand and stretch band)
9. A TB skin test will be required before clinical begin.
10. Items 5-9 are required when starting clinical.
11. A drug screen test one week prior to clinical starting may be required - cost $40
12. Book – Approx. $23

You may register by coming to the Continuing Education Building (400), Monday–Thursday from 8:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m., Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. If financial assistance is needed, contact the JobLink in room 344, Building 300.

Effective July 1, 2006, students who successfully complete the Nurse Aide I class will no longer be tested at Halifax Community College. Students will test at a regional test site for both the written and skills test. There is a separate payment of $101 for the test, payable to NACES Plus.
